A member of the Indian U-19 World Cup winning side, bowling all-rounder Abhishek Sharma made a dream debut in 2018 Indian Premier League for Delhi Daredevils. A blistering 46* runs scored by the teenager showed the rich quality he has to become a star player. Sharma added another feather to the cap of Dravid's U-19s, who have impressed this season. Sharma surprises one and all at Kotla
The 17-year-old cricketer introduced himself with a first ball boundary as he played a lofted shot over mid-off. From there on, there was no stopping the youngster. His unbeaten 46 runs consisted of three fours and four sixes. What was impressive was the fearless cricket he played striking at 242.11. His innings propelled DD to 181, but it wasn't enough in the end.
So who is Abhishek Sharma?
He is a lower middle-order batsman and bowls left-arm spin. He captained the India U-19 team to victory in the Asia Cup 2016. In the U-19 WC earlier this year, he picked six wickets from six matches at an economy rate of 3.91. He was purchased by the Daredevils for Rs. 55 lakh during the auction. The talented player is from Punjab.
Abhishek Sharma is a top entity
He has represented Punjab in four first-class games in the 2017-18 season. He scored an emphatic 94 against Himachal Pradesh and in six innings he bagged 202 runs. He joins the likes of U-19 stars Mavi, Gill and Shaw in IPL 2018.
