IPL 2025: Matthew Mott joins Delhi Capitals as assistant coach
What's the story
The Delhi Capitals (DC) have named Matthew Mott as their assistant coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
Mott, a renowned figure in cricket coaching circles, has previously led both men's and women's teams to T20 World Cup victories.
His most notable achievements include guiding Australia Women to one ODI World Cup and two T20 World Cup titles between 2015 and 2022.
Coaching career
Mott's journey from Australia to England
After his successful stint with the Australian women's team, Mott became the white-ball coach of England men's side.
Despite leading them to the T20 World Cup title in 2022, he resigned midway through his tenure after the team's disappointing ODI World Cup title defense in 2023 and failure to retain their T20 crown in 2024.
Recent developments
Mott's new role with Sydney Sixers and DC
After leaving the England side, Mott returned to Australia and signed a three-year deal as the assistant coach of Sydney Sixers.
Now, he will join the Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025. In this new role, he will work closely with DC's newly appointed head coach Hemang Badani as part of a major revamp in their coaching setup.

The addition of Mott, with his wealth of experience and proven track record, will go a long way.
