Day/Night Test: Sri Lanka bowled out for 109
The Sri Lankan cricket team has got bowled out (109/10) versus India on Day 2 of the second Test in Bengaluru. Sri Lanka resumed the day on 86/6 after India had managed 252/10. India got the job done on Sunday, claiming the last four wickets. The hosts have taken a significant advantage in the Day/Night Test. Jasprit Bumrah claimed a fifer.
Sri Lanka were off too a poor start
Jasprit Bumrah helped India with an early strike, dismissing Kusal Mendis for just two. Mendis went hard to drive the ball and got a leading edge. Lahiru Thirimanne chased a ball he should have left alone to give Bumrah his second. Mohammed Shami got Dimuth Karunaratne's wicket of the very first ball. Shami also dismissed Dhananjaya de Silva before Axar got Charith Asalanka.
Mathews and Dickwella show some character
The Lankans were reduced to 50/5 and were in a huge position of bother before Angelo Mathews and Niroshan Dickwella showed some character. Mathews played a counter innings, smashing 43 runs from 85 balls. The veteran player hit three fours and two sixes. He was finally dismissed late on by Bumrah. Meanwhile, Dickwella remained unbeaten on 13. The two added 35 runs.
Eighth fifer for Bumrah
Bumrah, who claimed three wickets on Saturday, took another two to complete a fifer. As per Cricbuzz, Bumrah now has two fifers each in West Indies, England and South Africa, besides one each in Australia and India. This was Bumrah's eighth fifer in 29 Tests. Only Kapil Dev had as many among Indian seamers at the same point in career.
India wrap up Lanka's innings
India picked up four wickets on Sunday to dismiss the Lankans and take a substantial lead. India, who have a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, will aim to make sure they build further to take the game away from Lanka and seal the deal.
