Day/Night Test: India take 342-run lead versus Sri Lanka
India (199/5) did well in the second session on Day 2 of the second Test versus Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. The Day/Night Test saw India extend their lead over the Lankans past the 300-run mark (342). India had earlier bowled SL out for 109 after the visitors resumed on 86/6. India posted 61/1 at tea and have added quick runs now in this session.
Lanka claim important wickets
After tea, Rohit Sharma and Hanuma Vihari added another 37 runs for the second wicket (overall 56). Rohit perished for a well made 46 from 79 balls. Vihari looked good too before being dismissed for 35. India were 116/3 before Virat Kohli perished cheaply for 13. The hosts were reduced to 139/4 with Kohli's wicket.
Pant slams a whirlwind 50
Rishabh Pant helped India scored in excess of 100 runs in the session with a fine knock of 50. He hammered seven fours and two sixes in a knock of just 31 balls. He had a strike rate of 161.29. Pant had earlier hit 39 in the first innings. Pant slammed his ninth fifty in Tests. He now has 1,920 runs at 40.85.
India get quick runs despite losing four wickets
The Lankans gave away runs and conceded at a rate of above four runs per over. India's positive approach and the knock by Pant kept the scorecard ticking. Lanka claimed four wickets in this session. Praveen Jayawickrama was pick of the SL bowlers, claiming three wickets. He got the likes of Vihari, Kohli, and Pant. Dhananjaya de Silva claimed the wicket of Rohit.
