David Warner shares Charminar's picture on Instagram
Australian cricket star, David Warner, has sparked a wave of affection among his Indian fans. He recently posted a picture of Hyderabad's iconic landmark, the Charminar, on his Instagram story. The picture quickly gained traction as Warner called the place "one of his favorites". The cricketer enjoys a significant fan base in India due to his involvement in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and his affinity for Tollywood cinema.
Warner's IPL journey and connection with Hyderabad
Warner's connection to Hyderabad stems from his tenure with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL, where he played from 2014 to 2021. He captained the team for six years (2015-2021), scoring a total of 4,490 runs in 139 matches. His impressive performance included five centuries and 34 half-centuries. Under his leadership, SRH clinched their only IPL title in 2016.
Warner's IPL journey took a new turn
Despite his successful stint with SRH, Warner was removed as captain and dropped from the team in 2021. The official reasons for this decision were not disclosed, but it is widely speculated that his poor form in the first half of the season may have been a factor. Following this, he was picked up by Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2022 IPL auction.
