21st Commonwealth Games: Pakistan hold India to a 2-2 draw
The arch-rivals India and Pakistan went head to head in men's hockey opener at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. As expected, the game lived up to its massive billing. India started the game brilliantly going 2-0 up in the first-half but Pakistan staged a dramatic comeback to deny India victory. For India, Dilpreet Singh and Harmanpreet Singh scored a goal each. Sloppy defending costs India
Dilpreet Singh opened the scoring for India in the first quarter before Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty corner in the second quarter to give India a 2-0 lead in the first half. It looked like India were cruising to a comfortable victory against their arch-rivals but India fell prey to some poor defending in the second half.
Pakistan score last second equalizer
Pakistan upped the ante in the second half and finally managed to pull one back as Muhammad Irfan Jr found the back of Sreejesh's net with less than two minutes to go in their third quarter. The drama unfolded in the last minute as Ali Mubashar converted a penalty corner with 7 seconds left on the clock to make it 2-2.
