CWG 2018: Shreyasi Singh shoots double trap gold
Indian Shooter Shreyasi Singh won the women's double trap gold medal in Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast, edging out Australia's Emma Cox in shoot-off. Shreyasi and Emma were tied at 96 after four rounds which led them to the shoot-off. The Indian hit the target twice while Emma failed to hit one out of the two shots she got. Here are more details.
Scotland's Linda grabbed bronze, while India's Varsha finished fourth
Scotland's Linda Pearson grabbed the bronze with 87 while India's Varsha Varman, who was in medal contention till the last round, finished fourth with 86. Shreyasi was in the second position while Varsha was in the third position after three rounds. Recently, she won a silver medal in the double trap event at the 2017 Commonwealth Shooting Championships.
Shreyasi represented India in two events at 2010 Delhi CWG
Shreyasi, whose grandfather and father served in the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) as its president, represented the country in two events at 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games Delhi but failed to win a single medal. The Delhi-born Shreyasi won the individual silver medal in double trap in Glasgow and followed that by winning a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
