Commonwealth Games: After women's team, men bag gold in TT
Indian men's table tennis team comprising of Sharath Achanta, Sathiyan G, Harmeet Desai, Sanil Shetty and Amalraj Anthony beat Nigeria 3-0 to win the gold in the men's team event. The Indians made light work of the Nigerians winning 11-8, 11-5 and 11-3 in the final tie. The women's table tennis team had also bagged a gold for India on Sunday.
Double victory for India
Earlier in the day, the men's team beat defending champions Singapore to enter the final of the 21st Commonwealth Games. The men followed the footsteps of the women's team which had stunned Singapore to clinch the gold medal.
India win 9th gold medal at Gold Coast
Sharath Achanta first defeated Bode Abiodun 4-11, 11-5, 11-4, 11-9 in the first singles. Sathiyan G then helped India take a 2-0 lead after thrashing Segun Toriola 10-12, 11-3, 11-3, 11-4 in the second singles match. In the end, it was the team of Sathiyan G and Harmeet Desai which outclassed Olajide Omotayo and Bode Abiodun 11-8, 11-5, 11-3 to bag India the gold.
