IPL: CSK thrash RR by 64 runs, here're records broken
The Chennai Super Kings stormed to a 64-run victory in style at their new home. Batting first, the yellow brigade, riding on the back of Shane Watson's fantastic hundred, posted 204/5. In response, Ajinkya Rahane's Rajasthan Royals' managed just 140. Here are the records that were set in this high octane fixture.
Is spin MS Dhoni's achilles heel?
Dhoni is one of the finest T20 batsmen produced by India. In this edition of the IPL, Dhoni has scored a whopping 61 runs off 28 balls against pacers at a strike rate of 217.85 without being dismissed. But against spin, his strike rate drops to 101.92. Dhoni has scored 53 runs off 52 balls against spinners while being dismissed thrice.
CSK's unity in diversity
This season four different batsmen have scored fifties for CSK. In the IPL 11 opener Bravo scored 68, in the second match against KKR Sam Billings smashed 56. Against Kings XI, Dhoni produced a knock of 79* and now against Royals, Shane Watson scored 106.
The man with the golden arm
Shreyas Gopal has been an impactful spinner for the Rajasthan Royals. After bagging the wicket of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers against RCB, the 24-year-old bagged the wickets of CSK's spine, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni.
Watson smashes second hundred of IPL 2018
There have been two individual hundreds smashed in the IPL 2018, so far. Both of them have come from veteran cricketers. Last night, 38-year-old Chris Gayle smashed a hundred against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Today, 36-year-old Shane Watson hit 106 against Rajasthan Royals. Shane Watson's century is the 49th hundred of the Indian Premier League.
Stat Attack: Watson scores IPL's 49th hundred
Shane Watson now has three IPL centuries to his name and shares the record with David Warner and AB de Villiers. Only RCB skipper Virat Kohli (4) and KXIP's Chris Gayle (6) have scored more hundreds in the IPL. Watson had scored a century for RR while playing against CSK in 2013, today he scored a century for CSK while playing against RR.
