IPL 2019: CSK beat DC, here're the records broken
Chennai Super Kings won their second consecutive match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 season to take the top position in the points table. The MS Dhoni-led side beat Delhi Capitals away from home. Batting first, DC managed a below-par score of 147/6. CSK looked positive from the beginning and chased down the target with ease. Dhawan registers 33rd career IPL fifty
Shikhar Dhawan (51) played an innings of substance. The southpaw hit seven fours in a 47-ball stay at the crease. Dhawan now has 33 IPL fifties and needs five more to surpass all-time leader David Warner (37). He is the fifth highest run-scorer in the IPL at the moment. The senior cricketer went past KKR's Robin Uthappa in terms of runs scored (4,121).
Raina four catches away from registering three-figure mark
Suresh Raina picked up the important catch of Colin Ingram. The veteran southpaw now has 96 catches in the tourney and is four away from becoming the first player in IPL to notch the three-figure mark. Raina (30) equalled the likes of MS Dhoni and AB de Villiers in terms of sixes hit in IPL (186).
Mishra edges closer towards Malinga's all-time record
Amit Mishra (148) needs two more wickets to get to the mark of 150 in IPL. He also needs seven more to surpass all-time record wicket-taker Lasith Malinga (154). With today's performance, Mishra now has 50 wickets at Kotla.
CSK bowlers script personal feats
Dwayne Bravo (3/33) excelled with the ball for CSK. The veteran cricketer now has 140 wickets in the IPL and surpassed Harbhajan Singh (137). Ravindra Jadeja (1/23) is four scalps away from registering 100 IPL wickets (96). Imran Tahir (1/20) equalled legend Shane Warne in terms of career IPL wickets (57). He also went past Kieron Pollard and Chris Morris (56 wickets each).
CSK zoom ahead in head-to-head record
This was the 19th meeting between the two teams in the IPL. With this victory, CSK now have a head-to-head record of 13-6. This was also CSK's fifth win at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.
How did the match pan out?
DC started off well with Prithvi Shaw (24) taking the initiative. DC picked up momentum when Rishabh Pant scored a quick-fire 13-ball 25, but the hosts faltered in the last 30 deliveries to manage 147/6. In reply, Ishant Sharma struck upfront, but Shane Watson hung on. His breezy 44 saw CSK score rapidly. CSK batsmen then ensured that the work was done.
