Chennai Super Kings appoint Fleming as head coach
The returning Chennai Super Kings have made their 4th and 5th signings of the season. The franchise, from the south of India, has appointed former India bowler Laxmipathy Balaji as their bowling coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League season 11. Former New Zealand captain, Stephen Fleming will return as the head coach of the two time IPL champions.
Details about CSK's support staff
Former Australian batsman Michael Hussey is the batting coach, Gregory King will be trainer and Tommy Simsek will be the team's physio. CSK has retained their Indian core with the likes of former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja and likely to use to right to match card to get Ravichandran Ashwin.
CSK reunites former core
Fleming, who has played for the franchise, was the coach before their suspension. He was the coach of Rising Pune Supergiant in the 2016 and 2017 seasons and will now reunite with the old lot again. Laxmipathy Balaji and Michael Hussey have also played for the franchise and will be keen to reunite with Fleming.
Team CSK is a tight knit family
"We like to retain the core team because of which we are retaining the entire support staff, with Fleming as the head coach and Hussey as the batting coach and Balaji, the local boy, as bowling coach," Chennai Super King's CEO K S Viswanathan said.
