IPL 2019: CSK beat DC, here are the records broken
Chennai Super Kings beat Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. With this victory, MS Dhoni's side have reached the final, where they will face Mumbai Indians on Sunday. Batting first, Delhi could only manage a total of 147/9. The defending champions bowled really well and then did enough to chase down the target. Here are the records broken.
A host of feats for CSK bowlers
Imran Tahir (1/28) raced to 24 wickets in IPL 2019. Only Kagiso Rabada (25) has more scalps than Tahir. Deepak Chahar now has 19 wickets this season. It is his best tally in an IPL campaign. Chahar also has 173 dot balls in IPL 12. That is the best performance by a bowler this season. He overcame Bhuvneshwar Kumar (168).
Bhajji gets to 150 IPL scalps, Bravo and Jadeja excel
Harbhajan Singh (2/31) has raced to 150 career IPL scalps. He is only the fourth bowler to achieve the feat in IPL history. Dwayne Bravo (2/19) has 147 career IPL wickets to his name. This was the eight occasion in which Bravo took 10-plus wickets in an IPL season. Ravindra Jadeja (2/23) surpassed Ashish Nehra in terms of career IPL wickets (108).
Pant is DC's second highest run-scorer in 2019
Rishabh Pant (38) ended up as the second-highest run scorer for DC (488). He is only behind Shikhar Dhawan. Pant now has 1,736 runs in 54 career IPL matches. He needs two runs to get past Aaron Finch in terms of career IPL runs (1,737).
How did the match pan out?
DC lost Prithvi Shaw early on and never quite managed to stitch healthy partnerships from there on. CSK kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. They were struggling at 102/6, before Pant and Ishant Sharma's 10-run cameo guided DC past 140-run mark. In reply, CSK got off to a cautious start, before Faf du Plessis got going. CSK chased down the total easily.
