Unbreakable records held by Cristiano Ronaldo
Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was named the UEFA Player of the Season for 2016-2017. This comes after a campaign which saw him help his club to the La Liga and Champions League double. Ronaldo has now won the award thrice while Lionel Messi has won the prize only twice. Here, we take a look at all incredible records held by the man.
Real Madrid's all-time top goalscorer
Ronaldo is by far Real Madrid's all-time top goal scorer with 407 goals from 396 matches and is still going strong. No other active players of the club are even close to him. Additionally, given Madrid's transfer policy, not many will play enough matches to be able to even get close to Ronaldo's mark.
Portugal's all-time top goal scorer and most appearances
Ronaldo is Portugal's all-time leading goal scorer with 75 goals from 143 matches. He is also the most-capped player of the country. Again, no other active player is even close to his mark. It is very difficult for anyone to show the kind of consistency and longevity that Ronaldo has shown over the years.
Most number of goals in a single Champions League campaign
Another incredible record that Ronaldo holds is the most number of goals scored by a player in a single Champions League campaign. The Portuguese forward found the back of the net 17 times in the 2013-14 campaign as he helped his side to win the title. Messi, with 14 goals in the 2011-12 campaign, comes a close second.
Only player to have scored in every minute
Ronaldo is the only player to have scored a goal in every minute of an official football game. He managed the feat in the 2014 Copa del Rey clash with Atletico Madrid. As ridiculous as this record is, Messi is just two separate minutes to achieve the feat. But to net in each of the 90 minutes of a game sounds impossible, doesn't it?
