I am an example on and off the pitch: CR7
"I know I am an example, 100%, on the pitch and outside the pitch," said a determined Cristiano Ronaldo when asked about the rape allegations, ahead of the Champions League clash against Manchester United. Ronaldo has denied the allegations yet again, as he prepares for a crunch battle against his former club at the Theatre of Dreams. Here is what Ronaldo stated.
Former American model Mayorga had alleged CR7 of rape
A former American model, Katherine Mayorga, had claimed earlier that she met Ronaldo at the VIP section of a Las Vegas nightclub in 2009. The duo exchanged numbers and later met up at Ronaldo's penthouse, where Ronaldo had other friends over. Ronaldo then allegedly invited her to change into a swimsuit, took her to his bedroom, and anally raped her.
Ronaldo has been denying allegations since weeks now
Ronaldo had earlier took to Twitter and rejected all the allegations, stating that people were trying to promote themselves at his expense. His lawyer, Peter Christiansen, said in a statement that the footballer insists that the encounter was 'completely consensual'. This came after the Las Vegas Police reopened an investigation into an alleged sexual assault, following claims made by Mayorga.
I am always smiling, claims Cristiano
In his pre-match conference, the ex-United player said that he is always smiling. "I am always smiling, I am a happy man, I'm blessed that I play in a fantastic club, I have a fantastic family, I have four kids, I am healthy." He said nothing else bothers him. "I have everything. So the rest, it doesn't interfere on me. I'm very, very well."
CR7 in a happy place at the moment
Ronaldo seems to be in a happy place at the moment. He has been in prime form and is raking the goals besides making assists for Juventus this season. "The most important [thing] is I enjoy the football, I enjoy my life," said CR7. "I'm not going to lie in this situation. My lawyers they are confident and of course I am too."
All eyes will be on Ronaldo tonight
All eyes will be on the Portuguese when Juventus face Manchester United tonight. Ronaldo played 292 matches for the Red Devils and won every trophy possible with the club. He moved to Real in 2009 and stayed 9 years there.
