Ronaldo to stay with Real Madrid until 2021
Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his contract with the Spanish football club Real Madrid and will stay with the club till 2021. The 31-year old star, who has scored 371 goals after he joined Real, will reportedly earn around £365,000 a week from the new deal. If he serves this agreement, it would mark Ronaldo's 12 years at Real Madrid.
Ronaldo's transfer to Real Madrid
After his six years stint at Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo joined Spanish giant Real Madrid for a record £80 million ahead of the 2009-10 season. He signed a six years deal and became the most expensive footballer in the world at that time. About 80,000 fans attended his presentation at Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid's home stadium.
Cristiano's achievements at Real Madrid
Ronaldo helped Madrid win the UEFA Champions League Trophy twice in 2013-14 and 2015-16. He also was UEFA Champions League's top goal scorer from 2012 to 2015. In the year 2014, Cristiano took Real Madrid to win the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. He received the FIFA Ballon d'Or for two consecutive years in 2013 and 2014.
This is not my last contract: Ronaldo
At a conference, Cristiano Ronaldo said that he wants to play till the age of 41 and this is not his last contract. He added, "I still have 10 years. I'm going to be here for another five years, but let it be known this will not be my last contract." He also said that he wants to finish his career with Real Madrid.
