The entire world has been facing the wrath of the deadly coronavirus which has claimed over 31,000 lives and infected nearly 6,79,000 people. The outburst has thrust India into a complete lockdown for 21 days. Amid this rough phase, a number of eminent names among the cricket fraternity have stepped forward with notable donations. Let us take a look at some of them.
Rahane donated Rs. 10 lakh to help fight coronavirus
Indian middle order batsman Ajinkya Rahane is the latest entrant in the pool of cricketers, to have pledged donation for novel coronavirus. The 31-year-old donated Rs. 10 lakh towards Chief Minister's Relief Fund. "This is just my tiny bit and a drop in the ocean. Will do my best to support in this difficult time. Meanwhile stay home stay safe," he wrote on twitter.

Tendulkar donated a substantial amount of Rs. 50 lakh
Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar on Friday donated a sum of Rs. 50 lakh for the cause. Tendulkar has been involved in various charity works in the past. "Sachin Tendulkar decided to contribute Rs 25 lakh each to Prime Minister's Relief Fund and Chief Minister's Relief Fund in his bid to join the fight against COVID-19," a source told PTI.
Gambhir pledges Rs. 1 crore out of MPLADS
Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir released Rs. 1 crore from his Local Area Development Scheme. He donated his one month's salary towards the Central Relief Fund. "It's time all resources of the country be directed towards fighting COVID-19. Have released INR 1 Crore from my MP LAD fund towards relief efforts. Have also donated one month's salary towards the Central Relief Fund," he tweeted.

16-year-old Richa Ghosh donates Rs. 1 lakh
Indian all-rounder Richa Ghosh, who was a part of India's squad in the Women's T20 World Cup 2020, has donated Rs. 1 lakh to the Bengal Chief Minister's relief fund. "When everybody is fighting COVID-19 and the chief minister has appealed for a united battle against it, I thought of contributing a bit as a responsible citizen of the country," Richa said.
'It's time we all do our bit', says Raina
The Indian batsman Suresh Raina stepped up with a donation of Rs. Rs 52 lakh. He contributed Rs. 31 lakh to the PM-CARES Fund and Rs. 21 lakh to the Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund. "It's time we all do our bit to help defeat #COVID19. I'm pledging Rs.52 lakh for the fight against #Corona. Please do your bit too," he tweeted.
The Pathan brothers donated 4,000 masks for the needy
Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pahtan donated 4,000 masks to contain the spread of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus). In a video, the former informed that the masks will be distributed to Vadodara health department. "Doing our bit for the society. Whatever you guys can do please go ahead and help each other as far as sanitation is concerned. But don't gather crowd," his tweet read.
