Sri Lankan cricketer Dhananjaya's father murdered by unidentified people
Dhananjaya de Silva's father was gunned down by unidentified people on the eve of the Sri Lankan team's departure to West Indies. The all-rounder has withdrawn from the Lankan squad. The team was supposed to board flight to Dubai before going to the West Indies. This comes as a big blow to Dhananjaya and Sri Lankan team. Here is more about this gruesome incident.
Gruesome incident rocks Lanka
The incident took place in Ratmalana, which is a suburb of the capital Colombo. Dhananjaya's father Ranjan was rushed to the Kalubowila Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. An investigation is currently underway, but as per reports no arrests have been made so far. Ranjan was a local politician, who recently contested in local government elections.
Lanka yet to name a replacement for Dhananjaya
The Sri Lankan board confirmed that Dhananjaya will not be a part of the squad that will travel to the Caribbean. The board hasn't yet named his replacement. The all-rounder has played 13 Tests for his nation. He is remembered for the unbeaten hundred against India last year at Feroz Shah Kotla. The player also scored a century against Bangladesh earlier in February, 2018.

West Indies and Sri Lanka are set to play three Tests. The first Test is starting from June 6 onwards. The second test will be held from June 14-18. The third Test take place on June 23. The matches will start at 7:30 PM.
