Cricket Australia denies reports of Langer being selected as coach
What's the story
Cricket Australia has gone on to quash reports that stated Justin Langer is set to be selected as the Australian team's head coach.
It was being speculated Langer will be replacing Lehmann, who stepped down after the ball-tampering scandal that rocked Australia.
The unfortunate incident happened during Test series against South Africa.
CA will hold a meeting on Friday.
Information
CA wants a clearer approach and understanding
An official of Cricket Australia has said that no appointment has been made and neither any name will be put to the board for ratification on Friday. CA would have a clearer approach regarding the selection process only once the meeting is done.
The frontrunner
Why Langer is the ideal man for the job?
The former Australian cricketer has been a top class advocate of the sport and has shown how pivotal he is during his stints with Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League.
He has great values and has been a true ambassador since his playing days.
He has also served as an interim coach for Australia on several occasions.
The challengers
Ponting and Gillespie making the right noises
Besides Langer, the likes of Ricky Ponting and Jason Gillespie too are said to be in contention.
Former Aussie skipper Ponting has already assisted both Lehmann and Langer in the T20I mould.
Ponting is currently the head coach of Delhi Daredevils and has earlier won a title with Mumbai Indians.
Gillespie helped Adelaide Strikers win the BBL.
He is currently the coach of Sussex.
