Russell named Jamaica Tallawahs captain
Andre Russell has been handed the captaincy role by Jamaica Tallawahs for the upcoming 2018 edition. The two-time CPL champions also boast of several other match-winners such as Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi and David Miller. Russell, who missed the 2017 event due to doping violations, is raring to have a go this season. He added that he feels good about the new responsibility.
Which all teams would be a part of CPL?
Six teams are set to battle it out for the coveted trophy. The teams are Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, St Lucia Stars and Trinbago Knight Riders. Knight Riders will take on Lucia Stars in the opening match on August 8. This term, all 6 teams have a roster of 18 cricketers.
Top players command big salaries
The top salary bracket, this season, sees the players netting up to US$160,000. Players like Chris Gayle (Patriots), Lendl Simmons (Stars), Andre Russell (Tallawahs), Dwayne Bravo (Knight Riders), Sohail Tanvir (Amazon Warriors) and Martin Guptill (Tridents) commanded the top salary slot in the draft. The draft had seen a total of 227 foreigners and 121 West Indians up for selection.

The Nepalese youngster, Sandeep Lamichhane has making the right noise this year and the chance to play in the Indian Premier League 2018 was a big moment. And now, the player is all set to feature for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in CPL 2018.
