Spain: 21-year-old coach with leukemia youngest to die of coronavirus
The coronavirus pandemic has continued to cause havoc in people's lives. On Monday, Francisco Garcia, a 21-year-old Spanish football coach, died after he was diagnosed with the deadly virus. Garcia, who worked with Atletico Portada Alta, was suffering from leukemia which made him vulnerable against the pandemic. He was taken to the hospital with severe coronavirus symptoms but couldn't survive.
Garcia had unknown pre-existing health condition
Garcia had an unknown pre-existing health condition that resulted in him being more vulnerable to the virus than usual for an individual of his age. However, he was only informed of having cancer after going to the hospital with coronavirus symptoms. According to Spanish newspaper Malaga Hoy, he was advised to seek further medical help after struggling to breathe. He had both coronavirus and pneumonia.
Leukemia made Garcia vulnerable
The 21-year-old was already diagnosed with leukemia, which increased the level of risk after he contracted the deadly virus. According to the Independent, infectious disease experts said that had Garcia not been suffering from leukemia, he would likely have survived the bout of coronavirus.
Club issues emotional statement
Atletico Portada Alta issued an emotional statement, "We want to express our deepest condolences to the family, friends and close friends of our coach Francisco Garcia who has left us, unfortunately. Now what do we do without you, Francis? How are we going to continue conquering ... in the league? We don't know how, but we will surely do it for you."
'Francisco was a great guy and a very talented coach'
Garcia had been training with Atletico Portada Alta for a period of four years and was coach of the junior team. Club president Pep Bueno paid tribute to him after revealing how quickly his condition declined. "Francisco was a great guy and a very talented coach. We are all still shocked. It seems impossible to me."

As per reports, Garcia is possibly the youngest victim of the coronavirus outbreak in Spain. The youngest individual to die in Italy is a 38-year-old man who passed away last week, meanwhile, China's youngest victim is a 36-year-old male. According to reprots, the overall death from the virus around the world surpassed the 7,000 tally. There have been over 1,80,000 positive cases.
