#CoronavirusOutbreak: I am feeling completely recovered, says Mikel Arteta
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he is feeling completely recovered after having earlier been diagnosed with the COVID-19. Arteta had tested positive for the virus on March 12. His diagnosis hastened a suspension on top-level English football, which remains suspended until April 30 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Here's what the Arsenal manager had to say.
Arteta and Hudson-Odoi had tested positive for coronavirus
Earlier, besides Arteta, Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi had also tested positive for coronavirus. Both were self-isolating after testing positive for the virus. Manchester City's left-back Benjamim Mendy had self-isolated himself after a member of his family was admitted to a hospital displaying symptoms of the virus. Three Leicester City players also self-isolated themselves after showing coronavirus symptoms.
Arteta claims he has completely recovered
"I am feeling completely recovered," Arteta told Arsenal's official website. "It's true I started having some symptoms when we got the phone call from the club to let us know that we might be exposed to the virus because of the owner of Olympiacos and in that moment... I don't know, I felt something within me, that I had it."
Arteta reveals how things went post being diagnosed
"I said, 'Listen, we have a couple of players that have been exposed. There is a massive risk there and as well I am the first one feeling the symptoms, very clear symptoms. So if that is the case, all of the players and the people related to the club who are in contact with me on a daily basis are exposed," he said.
Arteta urges everyone to be responsible
Arteta encouraged everyone to be responsible. "Please to everybody, we are a little bit behind other countries, for example Spain, where I know the situation they are living at the moment, and while we are having the opportunity a little bit to minimise the risk, I encourage everybody please to be responsible and stay at home as much as possible," Arteta said.
