All sport activities including cricket has been canceled or postponed in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. There is a lockdown going on in India and due to the same the likes of R Ashwin and MS Dhoni have started online cricket coaching via social media platforms. Here are crucial details regarding the online coaching of these two cricketers.
Ashwin and Dhoni have facilitated online cricket coaching
Ashwin and Dhoni have facilitated online cricket coaching programmes through their academies. According to TOI, Dhoni isn't involved with the operations of MS Dhoni Cricket Academy. He provides inputs to coaches and monitors developments. Dhoni's academy is offering live classes on Facebook, whereas, Ashwin's academy is helping trainees with a range of online sessions. Notably, Ashwin is also present in some of these sessions.
Trainees also need to upload their videos for Dhoni Academy
Dhoni Cricket Academy's Satrajit Lahiri gave crucial details. "We are clocking almost 10,000 views across all platforms for every video. We have an app called Cricketor where we regularly upload demo drills. The trainees also need to upload their videos so that we can keep a tab on their activities. We give feedback accordingly," Lahri told TOI.
Lahiri opens up on the aspects bowlers need to do
"There are aspects that can be sharpened even on the terrace or any little expanse inside the house without hurling the ball. Bowlers can work on things like grip, loading, building action and action without releasing the ball. If they get these things right, release will become better. Spinners, in particular, can do a lot at home," Lahiri told the New Indian Express.
What batsmen and bowlers need to do while uploading videos?
While uploading videos in the app, the batsmen, in these videos, are required to repeatedly throw balls against a wall and play with soft hands. Meanwhile, bowlers can perform various drills without releasing the ball, monitoring the repeatability of their bowling actions and loading-up positions.
