Records insignificant if India don't qualify for Asia Cup: Constantine
Indian football team coach Stephen Constantine believes that the team's nine-match winning streak will be for nothing if India do not qualify for the Asian Cup. "I am proud to have made this little bit of history but if I don't qualify for the Asian Cup, what's the use of nine wins in a row, or 10 or 11 or 12," Constantine told reporters.
India bagged their ninth successive win yesterday
India trounced Mauritius 2-1 in the tri-series opener by virtue of goals from forwards Robin Singh and Balwant Singh. Mauritius were the first on the score-sheet when a deflected shot flew into the net. Robin Singh equalized inside the first half while Balwant scored the winner in the second half. This was India's ninth win on the trot.
Constantine unhappy with team's performance in the first half
"Ok, not happy, happy but, I am okay. I have seen Mauritius, I knew they were going to play like this and they perhaps could have played a little bit better," Constantine said. He was unhappy with the way the team played in the first half and said that a few changes at half-time helped them dominate in the second.
