Harshit Rana delighted with dream T20I debut amid concussion controversy
What's the story
In a stunning T20I debut, Harshit Rana stole the show on Friday night, playing a crucial role in India's win during the fourth match.
His brilliant 3-33 helped India clinch a 15-run victory against England at Pune's Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
The win has helped India seal the five-match series against England. Here's what the debutant had to say about his debut for the Men in Blue.
Game-changer
Rana's crucial role as concussion substitute
Although not a part of the playing XI, Rana was introduced into the match as a concussion substitute for Shivam Dube, and it proved to be a masterstroke.
He easily broke England's middle and lower order just when they looked like getting back on track in their chase of 182.
Speaking after the match, an ecstatic Rana recalled his debut saying, "It is still a dream debut for me. I have been waiting for an opportunity for a long time."
Match highlights
Pandya and Dube's partnership rescues India
Despite England's Saqib Mahmood creating history with the first-ever triple-wicket maiden in men's T20 internationals, India posted a competitive total of 181/9.
This was mainly due to Hardik Pandya (53) and Dube (53), who steadied the innings with an important 88-run partnership.
Meanwhile, speaking about his performance Rana said, "I have bowled well in the IPL and was just following the same here."
Bowling performance
India's bowling prowess restricts England
Despite a blistering start by England's openers with 62 runs inside powerplay, India bowled out England for 166.
This was due to regular wickets taken by Indian bowlers including Rana.
Ravi Bishnoi also made notable contributions with figures of 3-28, while Varun Chakaravarthy took two wickets for 28 runs.
Notably, with this win, India has already clinched the series before going into the final T20I at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
