Coleman smashes 20-year-old 60m indoor world record
American sprinter, Christian Coleman breezed home in 6.34 seconds to set a new 60m world indoor record. The 21-year-old won the 60m event on the third and final day of the US Indoor Championships in Albuquerque. Coleman was 0.05 seconds quicker than the previous world record holder, Maurice Greene, who set it in Madrid in 1998.
Kept his best for the big final
Coleman improved constantly throughout the tournament. He won his heat in 6.46 seconds and his semi-final in 6.42 seconds and had already given his fans a glimpse that he had more in store come the big final.
Coleman's reaction time was only 0.149 seconds
Coleman started the race with a staggering reaction time of 0.149 seconds in the final race. He kept hold of his good start as he was pushed by Ronnie Baker for the top spot. Coleman, however, edged past Baker in the final stages and crossed the finish line at 6.34 seconds while Baker finished second completing it in 6.40 seconds.

Coleman thrilled with his record breaking performance
"My start was decent. Every time, I feel like I've got a lot of work to do. When I transitioned, I stood up, and I felt as good as I've ever felt. For it to be world record was pretty special." Coleman said.
Coleman gets second time lucky
This is not the first time, the 21-year-old has run faster than Greene's world record timing of 6.39. Last month, the young speedster clocked the timing of 6.37 seconds at the race in Clemson. However, he couldn't make the record his own as it was not submitted for world record ratification since electronic starting equipment was not used there.
