#GamingBytes: 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 4' nerfs PC weapons
'Call of Duty: Black Ops 4' was officially released in October and quickly became popular among gamers. It was always clear that the PC and console versions had different weapon preferences due to the adaptability of the controllers. Treyarch has now responded to this by nerfing or powering down one of the most powerful weapons on the PC version. Read about it here.
Weapon performance varies across platforms
Though the in-game damage dealt by a weapon is the same across platforms, weapon handling might vary due to the ease of certain controllers while playing. Thus certain weapons are handled better and more effectively on PC than consoles and vice versa.
The deadliest gun combo on PC
The Saug 9mm Operator Mod was largely popular on PC despite the gun sacrificing the aim down sights or ADM in favor of dual wielding. PC gamers could exploit this due to the relative ease of aim on a mouse and keyboard combination, even in the absence of sights. Since the mouse's cursor movement mimics the crosshair movement, shot accuracy is automatically better.
How are the developers tackling this problem?
Treyarch pushed PC-specific updates to address this issue. It balanced down the weapon's power. Now, a further Dual Wield Operator Mod change increases hip fire spread and reduces maximum damage falloff distance. This reduces the weapon's accuracy and overall power. Notably, other changes include upgrading the Koshka sniper to make it equal to Outlaw and Paladin and fixing the Barrel Choke of the MOG-12.
A special attention to each platform
Developers, despite, trying to improve gameplay experience through updates, often ignore the fact that different platforms might require specific changes. To this end, Treyarch's decision to treat the console and PC version of Black Ops 4 differently, shows its acknowledgment of the fact that gameplay and weapons work differently across platforms and require individual attention from developers instead of single uniform updates.
