BCCI and CoA in a tussle over proposed Day/Night Test
The Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) head, Vinod Rai has come down hard on the BCCI's acting secretary, Amitabh Choudhary over proposing India vs West Indies day and night Test match in October. The CoA is unhappy that the BCCI is taking decisions without keeping the committee in the loop. Here's more about this!
CoA asks BCCI to consult them prior to taking decisions
As per media reports, Amitabh Choudhary consulted coach Ravi Shastri, BCCI's CEO Rahul Johri, acting President CK Khanna, treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry amongst others about hosting the day and night Test. However, he kept the CoA in the dark regarding the fixture. This didn't go well with Vinod Rai & Co. Vinod Rai slammed Choudhary over the way he takes decisions.
Vinod Rai slams BCCI in a scathing mail
"Even if it be cricket of which all of you certainly have greater knowledge than me, (I'm excluding Diana (Edulji, former India women's team skipper), who has greater knowledge than all of you! I represent the viewing population. They are your greatest stakeholder," he wrote.
Rai is also upset that players were not consulted
Vinod Rai is also upset about the fact that BCCI didn't even consider consulting the players. He said that the body clock of players will get impacted during the day and night Test and they will have to get accustomed to a new timing. Finally, Rai also said that the issue is on hold till things like venue, timing, security and costs are decided.
