Indian cricket coaches can't coach any other team: CoA
The Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) announced that coaches of the Indian national cricket teams will not be allowed to coach any other team during their tenure. CoA chairman Vinod Rai also added that any new contract that BCCI enters will be of two years and will comply with the Lodha reforms.
No IPL stint for the national coaches
With CoA's new move to tackle conflict of interest, a national level coach will now not get a two-month window to coach any team in the cash rich Indian Premier League.
A tough choice ahead of Rahul Dravid?
Rahul Dravid is the coach of India's Under-19 and India 'A' cricket teams. During his two-month break, Rahul Dravid has been mentoring the IPL team Delhi Daredevils since a past couple of seasons. With this new rule announced by the CoA, if Dravid's contract as the India coach is extended, he will have to leave his job with the IPL team.
Why this sudden decision?
CoA's move has come after former member of the committee, Ramchandra Guha, pointed out 'conflict of interest' in his resignation letter. He said that the terms of contracts were changed for national coaches and support staff, given their association with IPL teams.
