Javelin thrower Neeraj impresses ahead of Asiad, wins top prize
Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has been amongst the medals in recent times. This could hand him a major boost ahead of the 2018 Asian Games next month. The reigning Commonwealth Games gold medalist, won the top prize at the Savo Games, which were held in Finland. Chopra ousted his Chinese Taipei rival Cheng to secure the gold.
Beating sensational Cheng will give Neeraj added motivation
Chopra threw an impressive 85.69 m in the event, which was enough for him to clinch the top spot. Cheng managed to throw 82.52 m to take the silver. The Chinese Taipei sensation is the only Asian to throw in excess of 90 m. He achieved the feat in 2017 during the World University Games. Getting better of Cheng will give Chopra added motivation.

Neeraj achieved his personal best throw of 87.43 m in the first leg of the Diamond League Meeting in Doha this year in May. He leads both Cheng and Ahmed Bader Magour of Qatar with the best throw by an Asian this year. Neeraj threw 86.47 m at the CWG 2018 in Gold Coast. He was the first Indian to win gold in javelin.
