CSK's love affair with MS Dhoni
What's the story
The Chennai Super Kings are one of the most popular teams in the IPL.
After serving a 2 year suspension, CSK would be itching to continue from where they left off in 2015 and the first step to that, is to bring back their record breaking captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Why is the former Indian captain so important to the Super Kings? Here's why.
High returns
The best business so far
The Indian Premier League sprung into life in 2008, after India won the inaugural edition of the World T20 in South Africa under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
He was the most wanted player at the IPL auction and Chennai Super Kings ensured Dhoni was a yellow by forking out USD 1.5 million.
The best piece of business so far.
Prolific
Super Kings only captain so far
Dhoni is one of the most successful IPL captains with 83 wins in 143 T20 matches.
Before CSK's suspension from the cash rich tournament, Dhoni led the franchise from the south of India in 129 matches winning 78.
The right-handed batsman has also been prolific with the bat scoring 2986 runs at an average of 39.30 in 129 matches he has played for CSK.
A winner
One of the most successful captains
MS Dhoni has a huge following in the south of India and a lot of that has to do with how successful he has been with the Super Kings.
Dhoni won the IPL twice in 2010 and 2011 and also led CSK to Champions League glory in 2010 and 2014.
The former Indian captain also led them to 3 runners-up honours in the IPL.
