Jorginho's penalty helps Chelsea beat Sheffield United 2-1: Records broken
A timely penalty strike by Jorginho handed Chelsea a 2-1 victory over bottom-placed side Sheffield United in the Premier League on Sunday. This was the third win for Chelsea in four games since Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard. The result has pushed the Blues up to fifth in the Premier League table, just one point behind Liverpool. Here are the record broken.
How did the match pan out?
Mason Mount opened the scoring for Chelsea two minutes before halftime when Timo Werner provided an impeccable cut-back to the England mid-fielder. Meanwhile, Sheffield received a reprieve with an own goal from Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger. However, the Blues had the last laugh as Jorginho converted a penalty in the 58th minute. This turned out to be the winner for Chelsea.
Chelsea concede their first goal under Tuchel
It is interesting to note that Chelsea have conceded only one goal in their first four Premier League games under Thomas Tuchel, their fewest through a manager's first four league games (in charge) since Guus Hiddink in February/March 2009.
Mount, Jorginho attain these feats
At 22 years and 28 days, Mason Mount has become the second-youngest player to score 10 Premier League goals for Chelsea after Arjen Robben (21y 342d). Meanwhile, nine of Jorginho's 11 Premier League goals have come from the penalty spot (82%). This is now the highest ratio of any player with 10+ goals in the competition's history.
Werner hasn't scored since November
Werner earned an assist in the game, however, he is yet to score in the league since November. "I'm happy when we win and when I can make two assists like today it's is also good," Werner told Sky Sports. "But as a striker you want to score. It's a long time now for me. I don't have it in my career."
