Maurizio Sarri: Can Antonio Conte's successor thrive at Chelsea?
Premier League club Chelsea have appointed Maurizio Sarri as their new manager in a three-year deal. The ex-Napoli boss, replaced Antonio Conte, who was shown the door after a two-year spell. Conte won the Premier League in 2016-17, followed by the FA Cup last term. Can Sarri thrive with the Blues? Here is more on Chelsea's new boss.
Chelsea's new boss
Sarri, a trophy-less manager, spent 3 seasons at Napoli
The new Chelsea boss spent three seasons at Napoli and guided them to a second place finish in the 2017-18 season. He managed Napoli in 147 games and ended up with a 65.99 win-rate. But he doesn't have anything to show on his CV as he has never won a trophy with any club. Chelsea took a big risk by appointing a trophy-less manager.
Can he guide Chelsea to Premier League win?
Conte achieved the Premier League title in his first year itself. Sarri will face stiff competition from the Manchester clubs in particular. The Italian has a difficult job and will have get much time to adapt. It looks difficult for a manager who lacks experience of winning titles. His attacking style of play will attract fans' attention though and Chelsea could provide a fight.
Sarri's Napoli side played attacking football
Sarri led Napoli to the 2nd place as the club finished four points behind Juventus. He saw his side score 94 goals in the 2016-17 season, the highest ever in the Serie A history. In three seasons, Napoli netted 251 goals under him. He is expected to provide the thrills. But will he be able deliver a trophy? We don't think so.
