India, Australia skip Champions Trophy warm-up games: Here's why
What's the story
India and Australia have decided to skip the warm-up matches ahead of the impending ICC Champions Trophy.
This comes after India's 3-0 ODI series win over England at home. The Rohit Sharma-led side feels that the series win is enough preparation for their campaign set to be held in Dubai.
Australia too have decided to not play any pre-tournament matches.
Tournament start
India's Champions Trophy journey commences on February 20
India's Champions Trophy campaign will kick-off on February 20 against Bangladesh.
The team will reach Dubai on February 15, where all their tournament matches will be played.
Instead of warm-up games, the Indian squad will only focus on internal training sessions.
This strategy is based on their recent successful experience from the England series.
Performance review
Preparations in full swing for India, Australia
In the last six months, India have played six ODIs -three against Sri Lanka (away) and three against England (home).
Despite a 0-2 seies defeat to Sri Lanka last year, the Indian team bounced back with a clean sweep over England.
Meanwhile, Australia are banking on its squad's conditioning and recent performances for the Champions Trophy.
