Mehidy Hasan Miraz named Bangladesh's vice-captain for Champions Trophy 2025
What's the story
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Mehidy Hasan Miraz as the vice-captain for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The team will depart for Dubai on February 13 (tonight), to prepare for their first match against India on February 20.
They will then travel to Pakistan for their other Group A matches against New Zealand and the hosts on February 24 and 27, respectively.

Miraz's cricket career and recent leadership role
Miraz, a 27-year-old all-rounder, has played 103 ODIs for Bangladesh.
He recently captained the team during their West Indies tour, filling in for regular captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was ruled out due to an injury.
Meanwhile, this experience will come in handy as he assumes his new role as vice-captain ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.

BCB announces additional squad members for training
Along with Miraz's appointment, the BCB also announced that pacers Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed will join the squad in Dubai for training.
"Pacers Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed will travel to Dubai on Saturday to train with the Bangladesh Champions Trophy squad. The bowlers will return home following Bangladesh's opening match of the tournament against India in Dubai on February 20" the board said in a statement.

Bangladesh cricket team captain, Shanto, has set his eyes on the upcoming Champions Trophy.
Meanwhile, recently speaking at a press conference at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, he stated that his team's goal for the tournament is to emerge as champions.
He further stated that he was confident that the team could win the tournament, although there could be strong competition from all the teams.
