Champions League 2024/25: Liverpool to face Paris Saint-Germain in last-16
What's the story
The draw for the last 16 of the Champions League has been announced and Premier League leaders Liverpool will take on Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
This will be their first meeting since the 2018-19 season, when Liverpool became Europe's champions for the sixth time.
The two-legged ties will be played on March 4-5 and March 11-12.
Here's more.
Other fixtures
Arsenal and Aston Villa's upcoming matches
Apart from the Liverpool-PSG clash, Premier League rivals Arsenal will take on Dutch side PSV Eindhoven while Unai Emery's Aston Villa are up against Club Brugge.
The winners of these ties will progress to the quarter-finals.
If Arsenal beats PSV, they could meet either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in the last eight.
Spanish showdown
Real Madrid to face Atletico Madrid in Madrid derby
Current Champions League holders Real Madrid will take on local rivals Atletico Madrid in the last 16.
This comes after Real Madrid knocked out Manchester City in the knockout phase play-offs with an aggregate score of 6-3.
An all-Germany affair is also on the cards as Bayern Munich gear up to take on Bayer Leverkusen.
Notably, Leverkusen trumped Bayern to win the Bundesliga last season.
Additional matches
Other fixtures in the last 16
The other matches in the last 16 are Feyenoord vs Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund vs Lille, and Benfica vs FC Barcelona.
These ties only add to the excitement of a thrilling round of football.
The results will decide which teams go deeper in their pursuit of Champions League glory.
Past encounters
Liverpool's history against French clubs
Liverpool have a poor record while playing away games against French clubs.
They haven't won their last five away games since their Champions League triumph over Marseille in 2008.
However, Liverpool boss Arne Slot was confident ahead of the PSG clash, saying they have drawn a team with real European pedigree.

Slot told Liverpoolfc.com: "At this stage of the competition, the quality of opponent is only going to be of a very high standard and in PSG we have drawn a team and a club with real European pedigree."
"They qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League in style earlier this week with a big win against Brest and they had some really good results in the league phase, defeating Stuttgart, Manchester City, Girona and Salzburg," he added.
