Champions League, Porto stun Juve on away goals: Records broken
10-man FC Porto stunned Juventus on away goals to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League 2020-21 season. Porto, who had won the first leg 2-1, lost the return tie 3-2. However, their away goal advantage saw Juventus get knocked out in the round of 16 for the second successive season. Here we present the list of records broken.
Porto hang on, serve decisive blow
Porto scored the opener via Oliveira's 19th-minute penalty. Federico Chiesa scored for Juve to equalize matters. Mehdi Taremi, who had earlier conceded the penalty, was shown a second yellow card for kicking the ball away. Chiesa leveled the tie in the 63rd minute. Sergio Oliveira netted in the 115th minute as Adrien Rabiot scored two minutes later. But it wasn't enough for Juve.
Contrasting records for Porto
Porto progressed in a Champions League knockout tie after winning the first leg for the first time since the 2003-04 quarter-final against Lyon, going on to win the competition that season. Porto are winless in their last 14 away games in the Champions League knockout stages (D4 L10). They have conceded two or more goals on 10 occasions in this run.
Chiesa scripts these records for Juve
As per Opta, Chiesa became the first Italian to score twice in a Champions League match for Juventus since Alessandro Del Piero against Real Madrid in November 2008. He is also the first to do so in a knockout match for Juve since Filippo Inzaghi against Manchester United in April 1999.
Cuadrado follows Ozil's footsteps
As per Opta, Juventus' Juan Cuadrado became the first player to create 12 chances in a single Champions League game since Mesut Ozil for Real Madrid against Spurs in April 2011.
