R Ashwin named the International Cricketer of the Year
What's the story
India's top spinner Ravichandran Ashwin won the International Cricketer of the Year award at the CEAT Cricket Rating (CCR) International awards 2017.
Ashwin was presented the award on the basis of his performance in the past 12 months, during which he took 99 wickets.
He was also India's leading wicket-taker in home season against New Zealand, England and Australia.

CEAT Cricket Rating
Formed in 1995 by three legends Clive Lloyd, Ian Chappell and Sunil Gavaskar, the CEAT Cricket Rating (CCR) is a system to recognize and reward the performances of the international cricketers annually.
Based on their performances, awards for the CCR Best Bowler, CCR Best Batsman, CCR Best Cricketer and CCR Best Cricket Team as well as CEAT Under 19 & T20 are given.

Shubman Gill named 'Youth player of the Year'
India's U-19 cricketer Shubman Gill was presented the 'Youth Player of the Year' award by former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar and Harsh Goenka, Chairman of RPG Enterprises. Gill's performance against England's U-19 team earlier this year helped India U-19 win the 5-match ODI series 3-1.

Ashwin all praises for young Washington
At the award function, Ashwin was all praises for youngster Washington Sundar, who replaced Ashwin in Rising Pune Supergiant.
Ashwin said, "Washington did really well in Vijay Hazare trophy. I had heard from a couple of people that he's doing well. He has good idea of how to bowl in T20s and to ball with the new ball is a massive challenge."
