Indian fans call Australian cricketer Carey a cheat, here's why!
Australian cricket team wicket-keeper Alex Carey is facing a huge backlash, by Indian fans, on Twitter. Indian cricket fans slammed the player for deliberately trying to cheat during the first T20I between the two sides in Brisbane. India lost their first match of the Australia tour to go down 0-1 in the 3-match series. Here is more about the incident.
Aussies take 1-0 lead after some brilliant moments
Aussies won the match by 4 runs as India failed to chase down a revised target of 174 in 17 overs in a rain-affected tie. The hosts saw the likes of Maxwell, Stoinis and Zampa shine on the night, as these three delivered match-winning performances. On a night, when a lot was to be cherished, the Alex Carey incident disappointed fans.
How did the incident unfold?
The incident occurred when Zampa was bowling to KL Rahul, who played a shot on the off-side. Rahul then looked back, and to his surprise, the bails had fallen down. There was some confusion and the Aussie players felt Rahul's bat had hit the stumps. Even Carey was unsure of what had happened and the incident was referred upstairs to the third umpire.
What were the findings?
Replays showed that there was a huge gap between the bat and stumps. And while Rahul was playing the shot, it was Carey who had actually knocked the bails. The match went on normally, but people on social media weren't impressed with the Aussie keeper.
