Football: This is what Cantona feels about Jose Mourinho
Former Manchester United player, Eric Cantona has stated that Jose Mourinho isn't the right man for the club. The Frenchman would rather have Pep Guardiola or himself in charge of the Old Trafford club. United have got off to a shaky start in the 2018-19 season of Premier League, which sees them adrift six points from the top after four games. Here is more.
Pressure is on Jose
Notably, Mourinho has drawn criticism from all quarters. In the betting market, Jose's sacking has become a subject of interest and odds are stacked against him. Even though, it is still early days, the pressure is on. Jose, who guided United to three trophies in his debut season, didn't win anything last season. However, he led United to a second place finish in EPL.
Cantona likes Jose, but critical about his style
In an exclusive interview with the Mail on Sunday, Cantona stated, "I like Mourinho. He has a good personality but not for United- they should have [Pep] Guardiola as coach." He then went on to criticize the manner in which Jose sets his team out which isn't the United way according to him. Cantona also feels Pep is doing magic at City.
I would like to coach United, says Cantona
Cantona showed his liking to coach this United side and feels he can bring the creative aura back. "I would like to coach and if they called me I would go. I would enjoy it. They know where I am. Then we would play creative football again," he added. He praised the impact Sir Alex Ferguson had on the club.
Big season for Jose ahead
It will be interesting to see how the season pans out for the Red Devils. Jose will be eyeing at least a trophy this term, besides wanting to do well in the Champions League. A top 4 finish in the Premier League is on the agenda, as well, if not the title. Anything short of this can see him get the sack.
