IPL 2018: 5 West Indian stars to look out for
Like Australians, West Indies cricketers, too, have enjoyed playing in the Indian Premier League. After India and Australia, West Indies have produced the most match-winners. Several Windies players are still plying their trade in the IPL. Let's have a look at five of West Indies T20 players and what they bring on the table.
Chris Gayle- Kings XI Punjab
Veteran Windies star Chris Gayle will once again look to be amongst the runs in IPL 2018. The southpaw has scored a plethora of runs, including five hundreds. A winner of the Orange Cap on two occasions, 'Gayle storm' has often hit Indian shores. Gayle finds himself in a new set-up this time and his brilliant stand-and-deliver ability could light KXIP.
Andre Russell- Kolkata Knight Riders
A valuable asset for KKR, Russell is one of the best all-rounders in the game. Russell injured his hamstring during the PSL and is recuperating from the injury. The player's participation in this season's IPL is in doubt with just three weeks to go for the event. If he does make it, Russell would be a star like he has shown in the past.
Kieron Pollard- Mumbai Indians
Pollard has won three IPL titles with Mumbai Indians and has been one of the most successful all-rounders. The big personality adds a lot of shine with his match-winning abilities and has donned the role for several years. With 2,343 runs and 56 wickets, Pollard has won many crucial fixtures for his side and is a crowd favourite. His impact is monumental for MI.
Dwayne Bravo- Chennai Super Kings
This West Indian all-round talent has been a pivotal factor for CSK for many years. Bravo's experience, like Pollard, is unmatchable and he brings balance to the squad. A trusted player for CSK, Bravo has been crucial in getting key wickets. He has won two IPL trophies and his 122 wickets (in 106 matches) show the vitality he provides.
Sunil Narine - Kolkata Knight Riders
Sunil Narine has been a long servant of KKR and is regarded as one of the best spinners to have graced the shortest format. 95 wickets in six seasons alongside two IPL trophies, Narine is a skipper's delight. His bowling action was reported recently in PSL and it remains unclear if the mystery spinner would be able to bowl in IPL 2018.
Other promising Windies players
Carlos Brathwaite has been a regular feature in IPL since a couple of seasons. He will represent Sunrisers Hyderabad this time. Hard-hitting opener Evin Lewis has been roped in by Mumbai Indians. Little known Javon Searles will represent the Knight Riders.
