IPL 2019: Shikhar Dhawan could script these records
Shikhar Dhawan has been one of the prolific batsmen in the Indian Premier League, over the seasons. The southpaw was part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad that won the 2016 edition of the tourney. Dhawan, who moved to Delhi Capitals, will look to guide the young batsmen of his franchise in IPL 2019. Here are the records which Dhawan could script in IPL 12.
Dhawan had a solid campaign in IPL 11
Dhawan played a crucial role in IPL 11 after amassing 497 runs in 16 matches for SRH. He formed a lethal combination with Purple Cap winner Kane Williamson. SRH reached the final last season. Dhawan will be wanting to shine this season for DC.
Dhawan can be in top five in terms of runs
In 143 matches, Dhawan has scored a total of 4,058 runs at an average of 33.26. He is in fray to be among the top five run-scorers in the history of the league. The opener will battle MS Dhoni (4,016 runs) and Robin Uthappa (4,086 runs). Dhawan also needs 160 runs to go past former KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir (4,217).
Dhawan can break Gambhir's record
Dhawan needs five fifties to go past leaders Gambhir and David Warner (36 fifties). He will be fighting for the most fifties alongside Suresh Raina (35), Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma (34 each). Dhawan is second in terms of the most fours hit in IPL (460). He needs 32 more to surpass Gambhir (491). Dhawan also needs 40 fours to reach tally of 500.
Dhawan needs 15 maximums to get to 100 sixes
Dhawan has hit a total of 85 sixes in the IPL. He needs another 15 to get to a special feat of 100 sixes. Dhawan has grabbed 63 catches in the IPL so far and can enter the top five. He will face stiff competition from Dwayne Bravo (69) and Kohli (68). Dhawan is also set to play his 150th IPL match in 2019.
