Western & Southern Open: Serena beaten by Kvitova
Former women's singles world number one, Serena Williams, hasn't quite cracked the code since her comeback earlier this year. The 2018 Wimbledon finalist suffered a loss against Czech Petra Kvitova 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 to bow out of the Western & Southern Open. This loss was followed by her earlier defeat in the first round of the Silicon Valley Classic.
Serena is in the very beginning of her comeback trail
Serena went on to state that she is still in the very beginning of her long comeback trail. The veteran tennis ace wants to focus on working hard to help herself win more matches. Serena has been having a difficult time. She was blown away by Konta earlier and then went on to skip the Rogers Cup last week. Now Kvitova overcame her.
A special battle
Our view: Recent results for Serena a cause of concern?
With the fourth and final Slam of the year- US Open 2018, starting from August 27 onwards, Serena would have hoped to gain some prominence on court. But the lead-up to the event hasn't gone her way. One would still not rule out Serena, who excelled at the Wimbledon this year to show she has the fight in her to come out strong.
