Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Pujara slams his maiden T20 ton
India's Test ace Cheteshwar Pujara showed his aggressive side with the bat after notching a sublime T20 hundred for Saurashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Pujara slammed a 61-ball 100* against Railways on Thursday. The right-handed batsman hit 14 fours and a six in his unbeaten knock. However, Pujara's innings went in vain as Railways won the match with 2 balls to spare.
Pujara yet to play a T20I
Pujara slammed his maiden T20 ton. Prior to this, he has six T20 fifties, to his name, in 50 innings. His heroics helped him become the first player for Saurashtra to register a century in T20s. Notably, Pujara is yet to play a T20I.
Pujara's blitz not enough for Saurashtra
Batting first, Pujara's blitz powered Saurashtra to 188/3. Besides Pujara, veteran Robin Uthappa scored a 31-ball 46. But this wasn't enough for Saurashtra as Railways clinched the T20 match by five wickets in the end. Saurashtra had the match in control, but lost their way after Abhinav Dixit (37*) and a cameo from Harsh Tyagi (16*) sealed the deal.
