Brighton ensure Premier League safety after beating United
Brighton became the second qualified team this season to ensure safety in the Premier League after a stunning 1-0 victory at the Amex Stadium against Manchester United. This was the side's last home game of the season with trips to Manchester City and Chelsea next and the fans could not have asked for more. The goal by Pascal Gross was enough for Brighton's survival.
The goal by Gross highlights United's inconsistency
Manchester United may be 2nd in the table in the Premier League, but this season, strong performances by United have often been followed by tedious games. This was their 7th loss of the campaign and they haven't yet secured the 2nd spot. The club still needs four more points. It was the header by Gross in 57th minute that was enough in the end.
Mourinho blasts United players
United boss Mourinho told media that they now must have know the answer as in to why Romelu Lukaku plays all games and not the others. This game showed why. The Portuguese was livid claiming that he could not persuade the players that 2nd place in the league is vital. The former Chelsea boss praised Brighton's attitude and hunger.
Stat attack: Brighton vs Man United
This was the 2nd win by Seagulls in their history against Manchester United. Pascal's goal ensured that all of his seven goals this season have come at home. United, also for the first time in EPL era, lost to all three promoted sides in a single season. And all of these losses have come away from home.
