Presenting bowlers with fifers in IND-PAK ODI games in UAE
What's the story
An all-round India dominated Bangladesh in their 2025 ICC Champions Trophy opener, winning by six wickets.
The Men in Blue would aim to carry this momentum into their high-stakes clash against Pakistan on February 23 in Dubai.
Notably, co-hosts Pakistan lost their opener against New Zealand.
Here's a look at the bowlers with fifers in Indo-Pak ODIs, which were held in the UAE.
#1
Aaqib Javed - 7/37, Wills Trophy, 1991
Pakistani pacer Aaqib Javed tore through the Indian batting lineup in the 1991 Wills Trophy final in Sharjah, scripting figures worth 7/37.
Javed dismissed two batters for a duck and dismantled the top order, restricting India to 100/5 at one stage.
As a result, India were folded for 190 while chasing 262.
Javed's wickets included dismissals of Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev.
#2
Imran Khan - 6/14, Rothmans Four-Nations Cup, 1985
Imran Khan claimed 6/14 in the 1985 Rothmans Four-Nations Cup opener, which took place in Sharjah.
He dismissed five of the top-six batters for single digits before trapping tailender Madan Lal. This restricted India to just 125/10.
However, despite Khan's heroics, India staged a stunning comeback thanks to Kapil Dev's 3/17, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan's 2/16, and Ravi Shastri's 2/17.
India hence defended the paltry-looking total.
#3
Aaqib Javed - 5/19, Pepsi Asia Cup, 1995
Team India faced the wrath of Javed in the 1998 Asia Cup match in Sharjah.
Chasing 267, the Men in Blue never got going as Javed ran through their top order.
The right-arm pacer was nearly unplayable as he claimed 5/19 in nine overs.
He dismissed three batters for ducks as India were bundled out for 169, losing by 97 runs.
#4
Waqar Younis - 5/31, Coca-Cola Cup, 2000
Waqar Younis' 5/31 completes this elite list of bowlers.
He delivered this spell in the fourth match of the 2000 Coca-Cola Cup in Sharjah, where Inzamam-ul-Haq's 111* propelled Pakistan to 272/3.
Younis then tore through India's middle order, restricting them to 174/9 in 50 overs.
No other Indian could touch the 30-run mark.
Notably, this remains his best bowling performance against India.
