NZ-India Tests: Trent Boult serves a warning to Virat Kohli
New Zealand pace spearhead Trent Boult is raring to go for the upcoming two-match Test series against India. The 30-year-old seamer was named in New Zealand's 13-member after he was declared fit. He was out of action for the past six weeks due to an injury he sustained during the Boxing Day Test against Australia. Here's more.
Can't wait to get back in the white: Boult
"I think it is what it is. I have just got to put the last six or so weeks behind me and just back myself to get out there and do my thing. I can't wait to be out there," Boult said.
Injury kept Boult away from international cricket for six weeks
Boult suffered from a fracture on his right hand during the Test series against Australia last year. He missed the recently concluded limited overs leg against India as well. Boult was instrumental for New Zealand in 2019 as he scalped 63 wickets in 28 international games at an average of 26.20. He also picked up 17 wickets in the World Cup 2019.
A battle to watch out for
Come the first Test, the Boult will surely look to make early inroads in the Indian batting line up. He will also be mounting pressure on Virat Kohli as the Indian skipper is highly vulnerable against seam and swing. Boult dismissed Kohli twice in three ODIs (Kohli featured in 3 out of 5 ODIs) during India's tour of New Zealand in 2019.
Excited to face Virat Kohli: Boult
"That's personally why I play the game, to get guys like that (Kohli) out and test myself against them, so I can't wait to get stuck in. But he's an exceptional player. Everyone knows how great he is," Boult said.
India to play first Test against Kiwis from February 21
The first Test between New Zealand and India would start from February 21. It is a part of two-match Test series. Before this, India won the T20I series 5-0 but lost all the three ODIs. Fans can watch the series live on Star Sports.
