Bob Woolmer: News
Robert Andrew Woolmer, or Bob Woomer as he was popularly known, was an English cricketer and coach. He started his first-class career for the county cricket side in 1968 as an all-rounder. His consistent performance in first-class cricket earned him a call-up to the English ODI side, and in 1972, he made his ODI debut against Australia. Three years later, in 1975, Woolmer made his Test debut also against Australia. He holds a fairly rare record of scoring all his Test centuries against Australia. His international career was derailed after he joined the breakaway World Series Cricket group led by Kerry Packer. His comeback wasn't successful, and he played his last Test match against Australia in 1981. After his stint as a player, Woolmer became a full-time coach, first for South Africa and then England; he also coached various domestic teams. In 1994, he was made the coach of the South African national team and later became the coach of Pakistan in 2004. His coaching stint with Pakistan tragically ended after he was found dead in a hotel in Jamaica during the 2007 ICC World Cup.
