Bismah Maroof retires from all forms of cricket: Details here
Former Pakistan women's cricket team captain Bismah Maroof has called time on all forms of cricket. Maroof, who represented Pakistan in 276 international matches, announced the same through a heartfelt note on X (formerly Twitter). With over 6,000 runs in international cricket, Maroof led the Women in Green in 96 matches. She had several glorious moments during her international career that spanned 18 years.

"I have decided to retire from the game I love the most. It has been an incredible journey, filled with challenges, victories, and unforgettable memories," Maroof wrote. "I want to express my gratitude to my family, who has supported me throughout my cricketing journey, from the very beginning until now. I also want to extend my thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board."

A look at her international stats
Over the last two decades, Maroof emerged as one of the greatest all-rounders in ODI and T20I cricket. In 136 WODIs, she racked up 3,369 runs at an average of 29.55. The tally includes 21 half-centuries. Maroof snapped up 44 wickets at an average of 26.68. The former Pakistan captain scored 2,893 runs from 140 WT20Is at 27.55. The tally includes 36 wickets.
Maroof led in 34 WODIs and 62 WT20Is
As mentioned, Maroof led the Pakistan women's side in as many as 96 games - 34 ODIs and 62 T20Is. She has the second-most appearances as captain for Pakistan in T20Is, only behind Sana Mir (65). Meanwhile, the former is third in terms of WODI appearances as Pakistan captain after Mir (72) and Shaiza Khan (39).
Maternity break in December 2020
It is worth noting that Maroof was on an indefinite maternity break between December 2020 and January 2022. She returned to action for the WT20 World Cup. Maroof relinquished Pakistan's captaincy in 2023 after their group-stage exit from the WT20 World Cup.
Maroof won Asian Games gold with Pakistan
Maroof starred for the Pakistan side that won the Asian Games gold medal in 2010 and 2014. She led Pakistan in the 2022 Women's ICC Cricket World Cup and represented them in three other editions (2009, 2013, and 2017). Maroof featured in eight WT20 World Cup editions (2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2023), leading them in 2020 and 2023.
