Bishan Singh Bedi asks BCCI to recognise blind cricket
Former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi has thrown his support behind the Indian blind cricket team, urging the BCCI to recognise blind cricket and take it under its fold. The former India spinner also heaped praise on the blind cricketers stating that even though they don't have eyesight, they have a vision to inspire millions.
Blind cricket is not recognised in India
As of now, the Cricket Association for Blind in India (CABI) is yet to be recognised by the Government of India or the BCCI. Addressing at the IndusInd Bank Blind Cricket Conclave, the former Indian captain said: "I would expect the BCCI to take CABI under its fold and give all the assistance they require."
Kirmani and Jadeja also call for recognition of blind cricket
The Indian blind cricket team was felicitated for winning the 2018 ODI World Cup at a ceremony attended by over 80 cricketers from the country. India had defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets to claim the World Cup. Former India wicket-keeper Syed Kirmani and former middle-order batsman Ajay Jadeja were the other cricketers who batted for development of blind cricket in India.
