Happy birthday Zaheer Khan: Here's a look at his achievements
Zaheer Khan is the best left-arm fast bowler, India have produced in the history of cricket. The champion bowler turned 40 today. A master of swing bowling, Khan was phenomenal away from home and always chipped in against the top teams. A World Cup winner, he went on to create a name for himself across all formats. Zaheer has an excellent record in both tests and ODIs
Zak was a regular wicket-taker. Due to his abilities, he was a captain's go-to bowler. He picked 311 Test scalps at an average of 32.94. In ODIs too, he left his mark with a bagful of wickets to his name (282). He is the 5th highest wicket-taker in Test for India. He also has the 4th highest number of wickets in ODIs for India.
Zaheer was a rockstar in SENA countries
Zak made his India debut in the year 2000. His record in SENA countries in Test cricket is praiseworthy. He bagged a total of 119 wickets in these 4 nations. His 33 wickets in New Zealand is the best returns outside the sub-continent. Figures of 5/29 is his best show in SENA countries. Performances in these countries made him a champion asset.
Zaheer was excellent against lefties
Zak had a liking for left-handed batsmen and over time he made many of the big guns his bunny. From Graeme Smith, Matthew Hayden to Jayasuriya, Zak troubled them all. He played a key role in the ICC 2011 World Cup triumph and finished with the joint-most number of wickets (21). That further enhanced his reputation of a legendary fast bowler.
